I knew Prof. Kelly from my time working in the geology department from 1972-1979. Always a fun and pleasant man. When he dictated a letter he spelled and punctuated everything. He will be missed by his many.

I have warm memories of Dr. Kelly from studying under him at U of M Camp Davis, Wyo. in 1970 when I was an undergrad. Our blue vans would head out to scenic locations of geologic interest where Dr. Kelly would give a brief lecture, then set us out to to explore the site. He was a great teacher and wonderful person who I will never forget.
