I met Bill through the Florida Striders in 1989 shortly after I moved to Jacksonville. I recall how he reached out to be to make me feel welcome. We had numerous discussions over the years about Colorado, a place Bill and I both enjoyed visiting.

My thoughts and prayers are with Stephanie and other members of his family. May the peace of the Lord comfort you in your time of loss.

Bill (Pops), We will miss you at the lake. It will not be the same. I will miss your smiling face and knowing that you were glad to see and talk to me just like we had known each other for all of our lifes. Steph, I hope you know that you are very dear to all of us too, and that we are here for you. I hope your sorrow passes fast and easy because you know that your Dad would not want you to be sad too long and to live and love as he did. Love The Buckstein family and the Haber family.

I was thinking about Bill and what came to mind was how they talk about coaches, saying how they touch so many lives. Bill was a coach and I wonder how many sailors lives Bill touched, how many young people did he influence? Some peole called Bill "Wild Bill" I think you could call him "Gentle Bill" he always ha that devilish smile on his face and he was always ready to help or have fun. We deployed together to Japan and Westpac, someof my fondest memories. What a great gut, what a friend. He loved people, he loved the Navy and He loved his country. Bill you lived a good life but we will missy ou my friend.

Bill was 'in the Service' of the Navy and America, and not just when he was earning his way up to be a Chief, but also the long years he served as a TechRep helping us Marauders of VA-82 and all the other "No-Slack-in-Light-Attack" Sailors. What a great man! He helped countless people do their jobs and set and example for us all. "With-the-Greatest-Possible-Respect" - Stu Paul Captain-AMDO(ret)
