William "Bill" Kerns, 64, of Nevada, died suddenly Saturday, Sept. 8. At his request, his body was cremated and there will be no funeral. Because of his love of the outdoors, the family would like to invite you to a celebration of his life from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Oriole Ridge...
I got to know Bill very well through our shared interest in baseball card collecting. We spent many an hour at Tryon's in Ames talking about anything and everything. Lots of fond memories!

Bill, as my Mother so elegantly put it, "God broke the mode when he made you." Thank you for making and raising Kris with your lovely wife Joyce. Kris has blessed my family in so many ways and is a truly remarkable brother-in-law. You will be truly missed!

Though I Hadn't seen Bill in over 40 years, I never forgot him. I remember the fishing trips, the insect collecting, and coin sorting we did as kids back in the 50's in our neighborhood. Best wishes to the family.

Bill-- I didn't know you well, but what I did know was very special. You helped raise a very special son who is very special to our family and especially our daughter. You were very special to our shared grandchildren so therefore you are again very special. As I confided in Kris "God broke the mold when he made Bill". There are very few people special enough to have that honor. You will always be missed, but carried on through those very special children, Baileigh, Ryleigh and talking...

"Red", you were a true friend. I kept our fishing date on Monday, and I know you were right there with me when I caught that 16 inch smallie at Hagge Park. I will miss you, and don't worry...that trophy walleye will still be on the lookout! Till we meet at the river again friend.....
