Not sure what to say?

Aunt Catherine and family---I wrote last week but my entry isn't showing. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Uncle Bill's death. I am sooooooooo sorry. I cherish the memories of us coming back on the train in our younger years, airplane in our older years and gathering with the Smith clan. Laughter and joy comes with all those memories: of being so lucky to help Uncle Bill in the Donut Shop filling jelly donuts or watching Dad get takin' by the Sheriff's Dept. when Uncle Bill was...

mom and dad at christmas

Catherine, Pam, Nancy, Sally and Bill,
I'm so sorry for your sudden loss. I enjoyed meeting your mom and dad at the casino or a craft bazaar or wherever they would happen to appear. He always was friendly and cordial and glad to get together. I know you'll miss him, but he's lucky to be in that better place we all aspire to. Look forward to the time when you can smile when you think about him.

So many buffet's so little time, Dad was truly loved and we are all still in shock. He is now feasting at the Saviors Buffet, can you imagine the birthday party next week with Him. Thank you to all who have been able to contact us and Mom sends her love and appreciation also. Never forget to smile and make someone smile back at you as he always did. When you see a buffet - smile and remember my dad! - Sally (Jerm 33:3)

The life of my Grandpa

I loved my Grandpa so much I wish he was still here. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet. For one thing I know he went to heaven because he had done so many good things for the people he had met in his life. He was the closest Grandpa I had Because my dads dad died 6 years before I was born, and 3 months after my sister Emily was born. So I always looked up at him and knew he was there for me when ever I needed him. My Grandpa and I both loved a lot of the same...

We’ve all known quiet giants. That was our dad. Even when he was chosen Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, he downplayed it. We all enjoy the fishing my brother, Bill, talked about, but never got to do enough of it – as dad said, even skunked is better than being at work. These days, my family does as much camping as we can. We walk the Mackinaw Bridge every Labor Day. The year I got my first cell phone, I called from the middle of the Bridge. I remember him laughing and calling to...

My dad was the nicest, kindest man I have ever known. I'm proud to be able to raise my children in the same town he raised his family in. I am sad that he's not "here" anymore but I know we will be together again. I love you dad!
