William Julius Lederer Jr.

I had the privilege to meet W.Lederer when he was in the navy. My father was then a three stars admiral, in charge of the navy for the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Lederer was invited to lunch at the admiralty and was the most entertaining guest we ever had, treating us to his great humor and all kinds of magical tricks. I was 19 at the time and read his very humorous book about his navy experience and how he "got to the officer's school because he cleaned the bathrooms so well". Of course...

To the family of Bill Lederer,
I met Bill when I first moved to Vermont in 1976 as he was already a dear friend to my neighbors, Joe and Dover Ford, and thereafter enjoyed his friendship for the many years he lived on East Hill and in his little apartment in Peacham village.
I did typing for Bill, helped him from time to time around his beautiful farmhouse, enjoyed meals together at home or at a restaurant, went to Quaker meetings with him, went on shopping trips, met his friends,...

Dear Bruce,

I was saddened to read of the death of your father. It is been a long time since I swam naked with him in a freezing Vermont pond. He led a most remarkable life. I hope you are well.
