William Lindsey Obituary

William Lindsey

Knoxville, TN

William Lee Lindsey, 1931-2016, of Knoxville, Tennessee, completed his time here after a long term battle with Alzheimers. He has taken on a new role in the gardens of Heaven. Bill had a passion for gardening and landscaping that left multitudes of people with smiles. He was a marvelous husband to his wife and a great father to his daughter. He was a member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ina and Howard Lindsey. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Lindsey; daughter, Cheri Gaddis; and son-in-law, Tom Gaddis; sister, Jane Rule; nieces and nephew, Wendy, Melony and Luke. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for all of their loving care and guidance throughout this journey: Jennifer, Trudy and Laura.

Aunt Liz , sharing your grief, but knowing Uncle Bill is already laughing in Heaven with old and dear friends. Prayers for you! Mom said she has many wonderful memories of good times with you all. You were great youth group leaders too and a special blessing to our church family for many years. Hugs to you and Cheri.

Dear Elizabeth and Cheri,
When Cheri and I were children, Bill joked that he was going to claim me as a tax deductionhe well should have! He was a kind, generous man to include an extra little girl in so many outings. I have such fond memories of times with your family--they still pop into my head and make me smile. Just think, Bill will tend Heaven's gardens and make Jesus laugh all the while! Praying for your peace and strength in the days ahead.
