Not sure what to say?

I remember Bill & Ruth Lucas with fondness. They were my next door neighbors from 1992 to 2011. They were among the best neighbors I have ever had. May their souls rest in peace!

There are fewer and fewer WWII veterans every day, considering that war ended 77 years ago. Let us remember the great sacrifice they made for freedom and democracy. My neighbor and friend, Bill Lucas, belonged to The Greatest Generation, as the American journalist Tom Brokaw called them.

Bill and Ruth Lucas were neighbors of mine ever since I moved next door and downhill from them in 1992. They were very good neighbors, and kept an eye on my house whenever I was away for a few days. Ruth always said a prayer for my safe travel and return. I would visit them occasionally and have wide-ranging discussions with Bill on various topics as I shared some of his conservative values.

To the best of my recollection Bill was only the fourth World War II veteran that I have...

Brother Lucas,
I will always remember you as a part of my childhood. You being a deacon at Bethel Assembly of God church for many years...you watched me grow up, and was proud when I went in the Navy. Your dear sweet wife Sis. Ruth was my Sunday School teacher all through high school. You were both a role model, mentor in my life, and I was so blessed to have known you. I know you are with the Lord and at peace. See ya there....

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
