I was a student of Dr. Mallard as a physics major in the 1980s. I recall a good teacher and an all around classy guy, in my opinion. He lived a life to be proud of.

I flew with Bill on many occasions. We had many fun and exciting adventures...One even made it into the Newnan Times. Bill was and still is a shining example on aging gracefully and with dignity. He never quit learning, striving for perfection in everything he did. His life is an example for all of us. Rest in peace as you slip the surly bonds of earth and touch the face of God.

Bill Mallard was responsible for me going to Emory after I was "wait listed" by MIT in 1965. He was a great mentor and a patient advisor. I re-connected with him before he retired from Georgia State and was able to work with him again as a reviewer in my capacity as an editor for a Boston textbook publisher. He will be missed by his many colleagues, family and students.
