William H. Mansfield, 91, of Sarasota, died March 22, 2010.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Toale Brothers Funeral Homes, Gulf Gate Chapel. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bay Village in Sarasota.
Born Oct. 16, 1918, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, he was the son of the late Samuel Holmes Mansfield and Lucy Frances Tolerton Mansfield. He was raised and educated in Ohio, attending Ohio Weslyan University. He married Isabel Marie Teckmyer Dec. 5, 1942, in Cleveland, worked for Trundle Engineering Co. from 1940-1942 and 1945-1948 and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater 1942-1945. He worked for Perfection Stove Co. in Cleveland from 1946-1958 and the American Standard Co. in New York City from 1958-1984 where he was director of purchasing and traffic.
The family moved from Ohio to Packanack Lake, Wayne, N.J., in 1958, where they lived until 1998 when he and Isabel subsequently moved to Sarasota, where they resided in the Bay Village retirement community.
He is survived by three children, Carolyn Sarsen of Greenwich, Conn., William H. Mansfield Jr. of Pittstown, N.J., and Marylou Carafello of Sarasota; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bay Village Endowment Fund.
