William J. McDermott

Bill was a friend of the environment and to all the people who cared about the environment whether he knew you personally or not. He always had a smile and a kind word and took the time to thank us for the work we were doing. We welcomed Bill on our many walks and at our special events. He is truly a "gentle man" who will be greatly missed.

bill brought the joys of nature to a wide and, I'm sure, appreciative audience through his newspaper columns and his very way of life. In doing so he has established a legacy that will live on in the thoughts and actions of countless people and generations. Even those who did not know him or whom he did not know, through his words in print will be grateful to Bill for helping them appreciate more the beauty and understanding of God's creation. Need anyone have a fuller legacy?
