It was a very sad day when we heard about Bill's death. Some of my fondest memories are of the Sunday night dinners at the McGrath house with friends and family. The food and the conversations were always great. Bill you will be missed but not forgotten.

I always enjoyed Bill's company whether it was playing golf or tipping a few beers. He had a pretty sharp wit and always told you what he thought which I found refreshing.One last round of golf with Bill would have been great but I will cherish the many memories I have.

I am truly sorry to hear of Bill's death. Bill was always the life of the party and the one who would pick up your spirits when you were down. Bill you've left us only to find a way to bring cheer where ever you are. We will all miss you but know our lives are better for having had you be a part of it.

I served with Bill in the NYARNG years ago on his return from Vietnam. He was a highly respected pilot in our unit and always exhibited the highest level of professionalism and ability. Bill was fun to be around. I also enjoyed playing golf with him and sharing some laughs with him after our golf. My deepest sympathy to his family for his loss. I pray that God will bring peace to him and his family.

I want to express my condolences to Bill's family. I have many great memories from my childhood of Bill and his family. I especially remember looking forward to going into their florist shop and going to their house for dinner. Our families were great friends and we all enjoyed their company. Bill was fun-loving and always welcoming to me. I saw Bill about 8 years ago when he came to my son's birthday party here in Louisiana. It was great to see him. I was glad to see my Dad and Bill together...

Bill was a great friend and a great helicopter pilot. He won numerous awards for valor in Vietnam, including a "Broken Wing Award" for dead-sticking His aircraft to a little dirt road after His engine was shot out. This is the most highly prized award by Army Aviators, and is only given for phenomenal feats of flying ability.
My condolences to Bill's family, His great sense of humor and larger than life personality will be sorely missed.

To all of Bill's friends and relatives:My condolences. I enjoyed his friendship and company during the last years he was in Castleton.Bill was always a source of pragmatic analysis of an issue. He was a true hero of a difficult war, and took great pride in his military service. 62 is way too young. I hope he has found his peace.
