William J. McKendry

McKENDRY - William J. McKendry, age 79, of Plymouth, passed away with his family at his bedside on January 29, 2009. Born in Detroit on January 10, 1930, he graduated from Detroit Catholic Central in 1947. He worked for the National Bank of Detroit and would retire as Vice President. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Esther. Together, they were blessed with nine loving children, Barbara McKendry, Thomas (Colleen), Lawrence (Karen), Kathleen McKendry, Patrick (Theresa), Paul (Gail), Marilyn (David) Smiatacz, Nancy (Steve) Iatrow and Eileen (Mark) Petroff. He is the proud grandfather of Corey (Kristen) McKendry, Ryan, Laura, Max, Patrick, Ross, Sean, Olivia, Andrew, Julia, Nolan, Brendan and Brian. Great-grandfather of Michael. Dear brother of Mary Margaret (Sandy) Ross, Alicia Rourke, Suzanne (William) Eaton and Michael (Dorothy) McKendry and the late James McKendry. Also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara McKendry. William's passion in life was his family. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's and children's sporting events. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Rd., Plymouth on Tuesday 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main, Plymouth Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 9 p.m. Rosary service Monday 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul or the Plymouth Salvation Army or to the Plymouth Goodfellows, all of which he was very active in.
