William F. McLaughlin 95 of Scotch Plains died on Friday April 3, 2020 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.


 Entombment for Bill will be private. The family will celebrate Bills life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Bills memory to: Union Catholic High School.


 Bill was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and settled to Scotch Plains in the late 1950’s. Bill graduated
from Stevens Institute of Technology with a BS in Electrical Engineering, than a Master’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering from NJIT. During WWII Bill was a Tank Commander with the United States Army.
Upon returning home from the war, Bill worked PSE&G in Elizabeth as an Engineer for over 40 years.


 Bill was active in his community. He was a 20 year volunteer with the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, a
member of the SP Planning Board. An active communicant of Immaculate Heart Mary Church.
Bill was also a member of the Parents Guild at Union Catholic HS in Scotch Plains for many years and
was Inducted in their Hall of Fame in 2019. He was the past president of the Board of Education for the
Arch Diocese of Newark.
 Bill was a die hard Jets and Devils fan and cherished his time with his family
at their home at the Jersey Shore.


Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Felicia A. ’18. He is survived by his loving Sons, Paul and Kathy,
Stephen and Joann, Cherished grandson Stephen and caring sister Patricia Simons.

Rest In Peace Mr. M. You were an amazing Grandfather to my Stephen. You were such a kind man . The love you showed him through the years was so genuine and true . He loved you so much! I know how much you truly loved him and for that i loved you as well. I am so grateful we had a chance to speak recently . We will all miss you dearly .

My Father was a Patriot who loved this country. He served his fellow man and woman with a lifetime of charitable work. He left behind a legacy of Good Will. We all Love You.

Hey grandpa I love you please rest easy and Im glad your with grandma now, have a few manhattans and looking down on myself cheers to you grandpa you were an amazing hero, icon and such a loving soul!
