Not sure what to say?

I was recently going down memory lane tracing my martial arts heritage, and my memory fell on William Monks, I decided to look him up only to find that he has passed. I studied Vadha under him as a student in Tottenville HS from 1998-2000 I enjoyed the time I spent learning from him. Martial arts has been an empowering thing throughout my life, I wish I could have talked to Mr. Monks again. Even though it is a different art, I am now the owner of my own school and work with young people...

bill you were a good man.Iremember you at prhs.god bless you.from Raymond murtha

bill was one of my first students,he will be truly missed.if it was not for bill the american vadha kempo system would not be what it is today.he left a legacy along with me,in motion be like water,at rest like a mirror, respond like a echo,be subtle as like no existence.god bless professor john salvaggio founder american vadha kempo system.

Master monks thank you for being my friend and dojo brother for the better part of 30 years. The group of vadha brothers that I consider some of my closest friends were introduced to the style by you and for that I will always be grateful. You have directly and indirectly grew a family of brothers that you cannot even imagine and for that again I am grateful. Rest in peace my friend you will be missed.

Mr. Monks was one of the greatest teachers I had in my life. He not only taught my two older brothers math, but from the first day I stepped into Monsignor Farrell High School he became a mentor and my karate instructor. Over the next four years we had a lot of laughs, but he taught me discipline, and gave me the belief that I can be stronger through will. His favorite movie was Billy Jack, about a native american Kung Fu master, who is a bit of a drifter. One day he comes to town and...

My condolences to Bill's family. He was my math teacher at Farrell for several years and he did make math interesting. "Yes you can park in my parents driveway"

My prayers and condolences go out to the Monks family and friends. Mr Monks was my math teacher and briefly karate teacher in Farrell. He was a man of intelligence, humor, and great patience, which I tested daily. He and many teachers at Farrell instilled the love of learning and teaching in me. A career that I follow today. Thank you Mr Monks! You are missed.

My condolences to Bill's family. He taught both Sean & Kevin Martial Arts and Math at Farrell. I have many fond memories. My prayers are with you.

Prayers for the family and those left behind. May these sorrowful moments help us turn and put our faith in "our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel" (2 Tim 1:10).
