William O. Moore, Sr.

August 5, 1940 - December 24, 2022

On Christmas Eve, 2022, William O. Moore, Sr., affectionately known as Buddy, passed away surrounded by his close family.

Buddy will be best remembered for the sacrificial love he had for his family. Born to William and Irene in August 1940, he was the 4th of nine siblings who were all Florida born and raised. He married Phyllis in February 1968 and they celebrated 35 beautiful years together before her untimely passing in December 2002. They raised two children, Bill (married to Feather) and Jenn (married to Keith), who blessed them with six grandchildren, Tyler, Grace, Emma, Josh, Ben, and Ella; and one great-grandchild, Huntleigh. We will forever be grateful for his continually conveyed affirmation, “I love you”.

Buddy will also be remembered for the sacrificial decision he made to serve our military. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for six years and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War where he earned the Gallantry Cross in recognition for his heroic conduct while in battle. We will forever be grateful for the freedom for which he valiantly fought.

Lastly, Buddy will be remembered for the sacrificial hours he spent on the golf course, which awarded him, not one, not two, but five hole-in-ones. However, nothing was more rewarding to him than recently being able to pass down his love of the game to his two grandsons. We will forever be grateful of the lessons he taught both on and off the course.

Buddy is admirably leaving behind a legacy of love to his family and friends as a devoted son, caring brother, faithful husband, forgiving father, generous grandfather, proud great-grandfather, loyal friend, honest business partner, courageous veteran, and, of course, avid golfer. He will be missed dearly, but our hope is not attached to the sentiments of this world, but to the legacy he leaves as a child of God. We hold firm to the faith that Jesus has welcomed him home with the most humbling of words to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant”.

Family and friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” service at Clermont Baptist Church, located at 16115 Old Hwy 50 W, Clermont FL. The service will take place on Saturday, January 7th, at 11 a.m. A fellowship luncheon will follow for all those able to stay.

Flowers are welcome; however, you might also consider making a donation in lieu of flowers to either Clermont Baptist Church or the Find, Feed & Restore ministry in our Dad’s honor.
