Susan, I am so sorry for your loss. Seems so long since I have seen you. I never met your husband but he sounded like such a good husband, grandfather, and talented man. I hope you will find some peace and comfort soon. Thinking of you! Carol (Diamond)

I knew him when he was still Willie. It was in the 9th grade when Coach Ray Graves recognized his talents and christened him Choppy. The rest is history. He was good at every sport and made all A´s in high school. The coaches got him to come out for football his junior year and as small as he was, he excelled in that contact sport too. He scored 4 touchdowns in one game. His natural skills were honed by his work ethic. I recall after exhaustive summer football practice when I could barely...

Choppy, who was 6 months younger than I, was my best and FIRST friend growing up. He lived on the next street over from me. I can testify to his natural athletic skills and competitive spirit. He took my marbles, beat me in ping pong, took my money shooting pool and could out run me. A superb swimmer, Choppy made me look silly trying to duplicate his diving skills. Choppy excelled in every sport, with Baseball and Basketball were his being his forte. He scored 50 points one game (only to...

My husband, Daughter and her family are saddened by the passing of Choppy. Prayers that he died peacefully. Friendship that began several decades ago. He came into our life as "Mr. Fix it" . He was an expert in his field of construction. He loved helping others. Over the years we got to know him as a dear friend. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. They lite up his life. An avid reader. He would sit down and share Citadel stories with my husband, books and politics and health...

Choppy and I go back to the playground days. My wife JoAnn went to school with him. I lost contact with him as we went to different High Schools. Hooked up with him at BE reunion in the 80´s. He had married a friend of mine. We have been in touch with each other ever since then. Just talked. With him on the phone about a week or so ago. We will miss him.
