I worked with Bill in the 1970s and 1980s while I was VP of Industrial Forestry Assn. He was indeed a gentleman and a devoted American. I learned much from him.

Our most sincere sympathy to Bill's family. He was such a fine gentleman, always eager to help when needed and always with a smile. Bill will be deeply missed.

Just discovered this sad news during a "wonder whatever happened to . . ." web surf. I worked in Bill's 1984 House campaign and can only say that I never met a finer candidate. To this day I regret that Oregon did not have the good sense to send Bill to Washington. And sadly, men of his integrity are harder and harder to find in politics. RIP, Bill. You will be greatly missed

Dear Dorothy,
We are very sorry for your loss. Bill was a friend, distinguished neighbor on 161st Court, and always a gentleman. We will miss him. May the Lord watch over him and keep him in the palm of his hand.

Bill and G-P's traffic manager were making a joint inspection of the railroad with California State officials. He made a tremendous impression on me and I knew I wanted to work for him. Bill made that happen and I ended up representing G-P in governmental affairs under his supervision. ...
