William H. Newbery

Bill was involved in Scouting in Sierra Madre for over 30 years and was my Scoutmaster at St. Rita's back in the early 60's. I'm grateful to him for the lessons in resourcefulness and was pleased to be able to help him complete the Scout Monument in the Sierra Madre Memorial Park. The monument was built in 1948 but the plaque dedicating it to all the Sierra Madre scouts who participated in WWII was not installed at the time due to funding. Bill sold my family many bicycles at B&H Cycles in South Pasadena before hiring and training me as mechanic. He was always patient with me, no matter how difficult the problem. I will miss him.
