Bill was such an extraordinary man. He compassionately and kindly diagnosed Charles with CLL back in 2007 and contacted a former classmate of Bill's, by then the head of hematology at UCSF, who served as Charles' doctor throughout his treatment and probably saved his life many times. Charles also passed this month, but we were both always and forever grateful to Bill for his knowledge and his kindness.

Doctor Newsom was my beloved oncologist who always gave 100% of his undivided attention to each of his patients. What a wonderful man Bill was. I had the privilege of working for him at the Cancer Center. He was sharp, kind, considerate and full of passion. He was the best doctor and boss, along with Dr. Campbell, I ever worked for. It was an honor. RIP Bill, you will always be remembered. Our sincere condolences to Christine and family.
