Not sure what to say?

We have missed you these past 10 years. We think of you often.
Thank you for getting Retrouvaille stated in San Diego !
We still Love you

Rest in peace Fr. Ortmann. My family and I are parishoners at St. Josephs Cathedral in San Diego. We always felt a little more blessed after hearing Fr. Ortmann's sermons. My last contact with him was in confession and what struck me about him was his devotion to married couples. We will miss you Fr. Ortmann, but you are now with our lord and savior.

Father Ortmann served as the priest of our Retrouvaille weekend in Raleigh, NC a few short years ago. Thank you Father Bill for your committment to couples like us who needed your gentle touch to save our marriage. Duane and Nancy Engle

Our family knew Father Bill Ortmann at St. Vincent's in San Diego. He was compassionate and caring.

When Father Ortmann was a priest at our church in St. Mary's he was always so helpful to his parishioners . He had a gentle way of treating people. During our months of "Renew". in our parish he guided us successfully even though we started late. It was a rewarding time for our church. I've always considered him a dear friend. One thing I'll always remember. I had asked him a question, "is a little white lie...a lie even if it's to save your skin"? His answer was..."A lie is a lie"...

Father Bill, you will remain in our thoughts and prayers as long as life endures. You taught us to be true Christians and how to love as Christ does. We will continue the work you began in your memory. Love always, Josh and Roz Howell

We first met Fr. Bill in Marriage Encounter. We have fond memories of him.

I met Bill on a Marriage Encounter weekend. He admitted thru much of his priestly life, he had "kept control" by managing his appointment book. He now knew that as a priest, he had to be available to people when they needed him-not on his schedule. He had tossed out the appointment book. A good guy.

I worked with Bill during his time in National City - I remember him - rain or shine - outside after every Mass to be available to the folks - Rest in peace! I am glad he got to go back to Iowa before his death - as his plains roots were important to him. He was a kind and good priest.
