Bill was our branch supervisor when I delivered afternoon editions of The Oregonian as a fifth-grader in 1961-62. The branch HQ was a shack at NW 23rd and Raleigh, just down the hill a couple of blocks from Chapman. A lot of were rewarded for subscription sales with vacation trips to Disneyland, SF and the Seattle World´s Fair, and he was instrumental to our success. He was incredibly patient, even the day I had a meltdown and didn´t want to my job one afternoon.
