William Allen Pendl

I moved to Terrace Park in 1964. Bill and Jane Pendl moved to Terrace Park in 1967, so we have been good friends for over 50 years. Bill was an outstanding tennis player but always a gracious mentor to me and other Terrace Park tennis players who aspired to be like Bill.

In 1973, there was the Battle of the sexes in which Billy Jean King (age 29) defeated former champion Bobby Riggs (age 55). As a prelude to watching the match on TV, we had our own Terrace Park tennis celebration. ...

Debbie and family,I was very saddened to learn of the loss of Bill. I have many years of wonderful memories on and off the courts He was a very special person I extend my prayers and heartfelt sympathy.

I was a friend and colleague of Bill's for over 50 years at IBM as well as after we both retired. There is no way that I could enumerate all of his outstanding qualities! Suffice to say that he was "Truly one-of-a- kind"! Sincere condolences to his family - The Light Perpetual just got a little brighter.
