He was indeed, one of a kind, and the only tears I ever shed in his presence were inspired by his oversized persona and whatever hilarious tall tale he imparted at the time. A good bass player as well!

Bil was a character, and my type of character. A musician, artist, and a keen mind. He will be sorely missed. Tossing back a shot of single malt for you my friend.

I was honored to play drums in a humorously-named band with Bil and David Buffmire that bounced around from DC to Madison to Boulder back in the early-to-mid-70s. The bouncing was kind of my fault, but it led to some memorable times in those different settings. Tim Hoover was also there in Madison and Boulder with his boat of a car. You can tell from the one "l" and his nickname that Bil was one of the most original cats I ever knew. I'll always remember the peak of his stylin in Madison,...
