I just learned Mr. Phillips passed last year. I was fortunate to have him as a mentor and teacher in 1966/67. He made such a difference in my life. He motivated me and led by example. One day when I was walking by his house he invited me in and we talked for a few minutes until he heard the crushing sounds of grinding trash. I can remember so well the smiling face of young Bill as I played with him in grammar school at Burnside. Several years later I met up with again at Fenger. And many years later, we met here at The Villages, Florida. He never changed! A great guy..

How do you "thank" someone who takes you from 16 to 67...... when I was 16 he made me feel special... Mr Phillips was my favorite and most memorable teacher. He was a kind, smart and funny man who I have thought of often over the years. My sympathies to his children and grandchildren.
