I am lucky to have known Bill for thirty years. Not long after we met, I learned just how prodigious a reader he was. Two door stopper biographies of an historical figure were published, and Bill solved the dilemma of which to read by reading them both. Bill had a passionate intellect, and he was a good man. I will miss him.

A chance meeting at College Club of Cleveland easily 20+ years ago resulted in our knowing Bill and Thelma. Not every husband showed up at the special events, but Bill was a faithful attendee. We sat with this interesting, dynamic (yet low-key) couple often and soon began seeing them outside of College Club, as well. Upon visiting in their charming, artistic home, It turned out that we had lived on their street in the fifties and sixties. A nice coincidence that of course led to wishing...

Bill was an amazing human being. An avid reader, possessed of a sharp mind, critical thinking, and a loving heart, he stepped in as a father figure to me when my own stepped out. His love for Thelma was a model of how to be a husband; a feminist before we used that word, he encouraged his daughters to follow their career paths, even when those were unconventional. He genuinely lived a good and full life. I loved him very much.
