Mr. Raines was my mentor and friend of 19 years. As my college professor, he taught me through his actions and his passionate love for education. Thank you for your love and guidance through the years and for always being my sounding board when teaching got tough. You will be so greatly missed.

Heartfelt condolences to Fay and and the Raines family. Thinking of you.

Mr. Raines and Dr. Raines guided me and rooted for me throughout my college years at UAH. Not a year went by that I didn't send them a Christmas card. I will cherish all the memories of such a kind person who saw the good in everyone he met.

Coach Raines both taught me US History and coached me in football and track. He was always tough on us but supportive, encouraging, and fair. As Kenny Herndon's comments in on this page reveal, he had a way of connecting with every individual he taught or coached and identifying how to bring out the best in them. I remember Bill so fondly from seeing both Bill and Fay at the garden. I always looked forward to Bill having a song for everything we talked about. He will certainly be missed. With love. Susan

Coach was my track coach for five years. Became to be like my big brother. Would not have into college had it not been for coach Raines. That changed my life and I am forever grateful. So sorry for your lose. It is a lose for so many people as he was loved by so many.

I remember Mr. Raines with special fondness for his support of helping me learn to be a better teacher.

Brother, you will be missed so much, all our talks over the phone about the races and much more, will be truly missed. We'll love you forever Brother, Randy & Joyce
