My heartfelt condolences go out to Liese and Willie and the rest of the family. Willie and I spent lots of time together in high school and college. I remember Dr. Ricketts as a cool dad who shared stories of Peru with me in visits to their house in Park Forest and later at their farm. I remember his fondness for foreign dishes like head cheese sandwiches, and how to ease the pain of a burn by using ink, an old home remedy which contains tannic acid. I had no idea that Dr Ricketts lived for so many years. I was born in the early 50's and lived in the Park Forest Co-ops. My mother told me as I grew older that I had been diagnosed with Ricketts. . . by Dr Ricketts! I have always remembered that but was too young to remember him. So sorry for your loss. He must have been a great Doc.
