I knew Bill for at least thirty years, and I value every minute of it. He was always friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. When Bill became CTO of the SPC, I took note of the SPC. I took a leave of absence from UVA in order to visit the SPC precisely because I knew Bill was heading up a great team. I will miss Bill not being part of the software scene a great deal. Many thanks Bill.
