William Young Warren Ripley

I never met Warren. Nevertheless I am indebted to him for the countless hours of enjoyment he provided me beginning 36 years ago when I bought Artillery & Ammunition of the Civil War. I once saw him walking a dog on King Street; I recognized him from one of his books' jacket photo. I wish now that I had stopped my car, gotten out, and personally thanked him then, and will always regret that I did not. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Ripley. He will always be remembered by former and present CLS staff members for his many accomplishments as president, and his unselfish and loyal service to the institution.
