Not sure what to say?

An inspirational man who I had the honour of getting involved in coaching Rugby at ANU in 1973. Bill went on to coach Australian Services. He was like a Douglas Bader to us. A fine soldier, family man, lawyer and rugby coach. Lest We forget .

Fond memories of a truly wonderful man

sometimes we are lucky enough to meet a person who teaches us by his conduct and strength of character how a true gentleman and officer should behave, Bill was one of these people. It was my privilege to have served with him.

Bill - there are no words to describe how much I will miss you. You are irreplaceable. I will treasure all the laughs, the support, the adventures, the tears, the advice and your unbelievable kindness. Love to Joan and family - Cindy.

Vale Bill, The world is a far better place for having had you live here...Go Well
and all our love and condolences to your wife Joan and
your dear children and grandchildren...

Twilight and evening bell
and after that the dark
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark.....

I have fond memories of my chats with the Brigadier over the years. In retrospect I should have listened more closely earlier on his recommendations on life and the Army as he was both immensely perceptive and kind. He will be missed.

Mary Jane and I were fortunate to share a great year with Bill and Joan in Charlottesville, VA as members of the US Army JAG Corps' 31st Grad Class. Bill left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and he is fondly recalled by all of us who were privileged to know him. Our deepest condolences to Joan and the rest of the Rolfe family.

Bill inspired us all. We treasure the memories of our time with Bill and Joan in Charlottesville during the 31st Graduate Course. Condolences to Joan and the family.

I met Bill at a retired U.S. Army Judge Advocate meeting in Charlottesville, Virginia. Even though this my only encounter with him, he made an most memorable impression on me. Here was a guy with two legs blown off in Vietnam, who could joke that at least he was now taller because of his artificial limbs. Being a Vietnam veteran myself, I appreciated the dark humor. I wish that I had the opportunity, as my other U.S. Army JAGC friends, to have spent the year with Joan and him in our Judge...
