Not sure what to say?

I was Bill's same age. He played for Jefferson Hi, I Lincoln. If we had Bill on our team, we would have beaten Grant Hi. , the only school that beat us in the Portland league.

I also knew him when he taught as a pro. He had the most wonderful drop shot, but I could never replicate it. He had red hair too in them thar days.

My condolences to his many friends and family.

Bill Lawrence, Portland

I walked on at U of P my Freshman year. Bill showed up as coach my sophomore year. I had no lessons prior to meeting Bill and he helped my game out a lot. I played all four years and those years and reunions with the 60's tennis teams and Bill were great times and some of the fondest memories of my life.
Chuck Gebhardt, class of 1967

When I first met Coach Rose in the summer of 1964 I had no idea how life-changing that meeting would be, but it dramatically affected not only my tennis future but also my professional and family future as well. I thrived in the U of P environment, both athletically and academically, and his offer of a tennis scholarship made it all possible.

A great man and tennis player !
