Not sure what to say?

Mercer was a "jewel" of a fellow. My father was fond of him and I always enjoyed it when Mercer would walk by our downtown store, open the door, and make us all smile with one of his one-liners.

My father, George Holston, worked for Mr. Rowe for many years at Carolina Nitrogen. He always spoke of Mr. Rowe as a good man, manager, and being fair with the employees.

My father always spoke of him with upmost respect.

My deepest sympathy to the Rowe family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was in school with Bill, III.

Ann, I truly wished to go to the service, but was afraid of the walking & steps at 1st Presby. But, I'm sure you know that I am very distressed about losing Mercer, because I felt he was one of my best buddies and I will miss him greatly. Since I didn't see you, I hope you won't mind if Catherine & I drop by to see you at home soon.
Much love, Jim & Catherine

To the Rowe family,

My mother and I remember Mr. Rowe as one of the most engaging and alive men we knew in Wilmington during our 39 years there. He was a real pleasure to be around, always a twinkle in his eye, and always ready with a clever quip to make one think and/or laugh.

Please accept our sincerest condolences for your loss. We are thinking of you at this time.

We send our sympathy to Ann and her family. It was always such a pleasure to meet Mercer at any gathering. One always felt better after it. Nell will miss their conversations on their common eye problems. Today at the time of his services we will give thanks for his life, having known him, and that he has achieved peace.

I will certainly miss that sense of humor and great example of a true gentleman. It was always an experience when Mr.Rowe would get me to put his contact in. One day he had been to a meeting and had on a nametag. He made me wear it, so all day I worked as "Mercer Rowe". I will always remember
him for his special love for his beautiful wife and his family. I know that his family and friends have so many wonderful memories to share with each other.

Please accept my sincere sympathy your greif is shared by many.

My deepest sympathy to the family of a gentleman.
