William Rupp Jr.

1927 - 2022

William J. (Bill) Rupp Jr., born April 24, 1927 in New Orleans, LA passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the age of 95. He was an alumnus of Fortier High School, Mayben Academy (U.S. Navy), and Tulane University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. A respected executive in Louisiana's shipping industry for many years, Mr. Rupp held positions with Colonial Sugar Co., L &N Railroad, and Chevron Chemical Co., where he retired after 32 years of service. He was President and board member of the Traffic and Transportation Club of Greater New Orleans, member of the World Trade Club of N.O., American Legion, Good Old Metry Boys, and Chevron Retirees Assn. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joan Rengstorff Rupp; father, William J. Rupp Sr.; mother, Laura Powell Rupp. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Rupp Panno (Frank); sons, William J. "Billy" Rupp III (Robin), Robert J. "Bob" Rupp Sr. (Missy); sister, Patricia Rupp Readeau; grandchildren, Toni Panno Cassreino, Frank Panno Jr., Robert J. Rupp Jr., Lauren Rupp Livermore, Ethan W. Rupp, Alex L. Rupp, and William J. Rupp IV; great-grandchildren, Olivia Cassreino, Sam Cassreino, Colin Panno, Rowan Panno, Reagan Livermore, Hudson Livermore, Madison Rupp, and Harper Rupp. Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will being at 12:00PM followed by a Mass at 2:00PM. Burial will be at All Saint's Mausoleum.
