Not sure what to say?

FAREWELL TO THE SWEETEST AND GENTLEST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER KNOWN. HE DELIVERED BY FOUR CHILDREN STARTING IN 1969-HE ONLY CHARGED WHAT INSURANCE COVERED AT THE TIME.
I BECAME A WIDOW AT 35 AND WHEN I
WENT FOR MY CHECKUPS-NURSE FLYNN
SAID "NO CHARGE". I ASKED WHY AND WAS TOLD HE DOESN'T CHARGE WIDOWS.
WHO ELSE WOULD EVER DO THAT?1
I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM WITH LOVE. GERTRUDE (TRUDY) MCCRACKEN
ELIZABETH, NJ

He was a great man, doctor and person. He was very good to the people especially my mom and families. He will be missed! God bless him. Wish we had many more just like him!

We have all lost not only a fine physician but a true gentle and caring individual. He took such good care of us (5 kids) he was considered part of our family. I still remember him bringing his little dauschund on house calls. I think he got a bigger kick watching those not ill running the dog back and forth with a ball. And if you were a little short that visit "pay me next time". Try to find a doctor like that any where. We were all blessed and made richer just to have known him.
Our...

All in our family were saddened to learn of Dr. Bill's passing. What a great guy. Our condolences to his family.

Bill delivered all five of our children at St. Elizabeth's Hospital back when Sister Borgia ruled the maternity section with an iron hand.

When is the last time you heard of a doctor making house calls.

If there is a hospital in heaven you can be sure Bill will be in charge of the maternity department.

Farewell to a wonderful man.

My deepest sympathy to Dr. Shirmer's family. Dr. Shirmer delivered both of my children who are now 34 and 32. You never knew what he was going to do next - a real comedian. When my first child was born, he came into my hospital room, answered my phone (my aunt was calling to congratulate us) and told her he was a patient in the bed next to me because they ran out of space in the men's ward. Then when my second child was born he told me to take my time because he hadn't had dinner yet...

We have 4 great children. The last one was delivered by "Dr.Bill" who was filling in or covering for Walter Booth, MD. As a pharmacist, Dr. Schirmer and I had a close professional relationship. He was one great physician. May God grant him eternal memory for all the exceptional medical, community and spiritual work 'Bill' did while here on earth. God grant strength to his family.

I have many fond memories of Dr. Shirmer. He took care of my siblings and me as children. He often insisted on a piece of my mom's apple pie when he made a house call. We all loved that story!
He delivered two of my children. He thought he was just joshing me when he told me I was having triplets with my first. I was much too serious and believed every word. What a kibbutzer he was! Would that many imitate him.

I am sending my sincerest condolences to Dr. Schirmer's family. He delivered one of my sisters and one of my brothers and both of my sons. He was our family doctor and I remember his house calls. He was a member of our family too.....the Hart's on Pearl Street. You are all in our thoughts and prayers...he was a unique human being.
