Obituary

On Friday, August 24, 2018, William Schmidt, loving husband and father of two sons passed away at the age of 65.

William was born on September 30, 1952 in Elmhurst, IL to Howard and Nan (Agnes Woods) Schmidt. Bill was a Field Service Engineer for 32 years in the semiconductor industry. His job allowed him to travel throughout the world. On December 13, 1980 he married the love of his life, Christine (Bell) Schmidt. They raised two sons, Alec and Sam, of whom he was so proud.

Bill had a passion for camping, hiking, spending time in the woods, and was a die-hard Cubs fan. When he wasnt in the woods, he nurtured the abundance of plants in his garden and used care in obtaining the perfect cut as he mowed his lawn. Bill was an avid music lover, especially appreciating lyrics, and shared this with his two sons. He was known for his dry sense of humor, was truly a deep thinker, and his love of family was witnessed by all.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Howard, his mother Nan (Agnes) and his brother, Don. He is survived by his wife, Christine, their two sons, Alec and Sam, his brothers Mel (Jill) and Rick (Maria), his sister Donna (Bob) along with cousins, nieces and nephews.

Please join us celebrating his life on Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 254 N Wood Dale Rd, Wood Dale IL. Visitation will begin at 9:30 followed by a funeral mass at 10:30.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St, Phoenix AZ 85014.

I John 3:2
Dear friends, we are already Gods children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.

Rest in Peace, Bill.

I have fond memories of Bill from high school. We hung out a lot and double dated our Jr. and Sr. proms. My condolences to the entire Schmidt family.

My phone would ring early on a weekend morning and it would be my brother Bill . We would talk weather, politics, laugh about some new and some old stories , talk about our kids and inevitably the Cubs. Sometimes the calls were short but most times they would last up to an hour and I would always be surprised how long we talked . Over the last few years we seemed to talk more and more about how fortunate we were to to be living the life that we were living. Having a family that he loved was...

My heart goes out to the entire Schmidt family and friends. Bill is the coolest dude I know. Every time I was with him wether it was at work or going off to lunch he was an honest man. He lives his family more than anything. Even the Cubs and a Vienna Beef! The thing I will always remember is no matter how stressful the situation, Bill would just say water off a ducks back. And that was it. He would forget about it and move in with life.
Rest In Peace Bill. I will miss you.

We cry with you.

I’d like to report something on this page.
