I remember Professor Serrin fondly, and feel I owe him so much. He was the one who really taught me how to be a good reporter. He was my academic advisor on my final semester independent project, in which I was spending time on the streets with runaways. When I watched The Post just 11 days before Professor Serrin's passing, I couldn't help but so fondly remember him and his always intense morning classes History of the News at NYU in the mid 90s.
I was taking 15 credits back then for my Masters degree in Broadcasting Journalism and truly overwhelmed with classes, trying not to quit working from ESPN International where I was anchoring SportsCenter in Portuguese to Brazil from Bristol, CT.
