Doug, Penny, and Aunt Deb:
Sheila and I want to express our deepest condolences to y'all. Every minute we spent playing golf with Coach in Hilton Head was a lasting memory. Sitting on the porch telling us stories about coaching/teaching in Elbridge never got old. Eventhough I never got the honor to be coached by "Coach", he taught me a lot about life in the conversations we had over the years. We will miss you a lot. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Penny and Shanks family,
I'm so sorry to read of your Dad's passing. What I remember most about him was his ever-present smile and friendly "hello". May your many family memories sustain you in the coming years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Deborah, Doug and Penny,
Your Dad always talked about you kids. He was so proud. He and I would check our golf scores and try to figure out how to play golf better.
I loved teaching with him in the gym and when I started coaching b'ball he helped me with the weave and some other plays. "Coach" was an icon of Elbridge. He'll be missed

Take care Coach, you had a tremendous impact on all of our lives -- thank you.

Coach Shanks was, is, a lengend in Elbridge. If you grew up there, you knew him and now appreciate what a wonderful role model he was. He taught fitness, not only of the body, but also of the inner man, building integrity into those whose lives he touched, Nice legacy. He'll be missed but his legacy lives on in us.

Bill (Coach Shanks) as he was well known. We will miss him.

My condolences. I learned the "3 man weave" from Coach Shanks in the early 70's in Elbridge.

Bill and Marge lived in my parents appt. whenthey first moved to Elbridge. They were wonderful people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
