Not sure what to say?

Mr. Shapiro was one of those teachers that I will forever keep in my heart. I graduated Union Hill High School back in 2003, until this day I have not forgotten the many times Mr. Shapiro believed in me and pushed me to do better. I remember how I started HS not knowing how to speak English and a year later after a long conversation, Mr Shapiro just told me, Maikel did you notice we’ve been speaking in English this whole time. I just smiled, felt my heart fill with joy and thanked him for...

There´s no mistaking that smile. Thank you Mr Shapiro for your guidance and the lifelong influence you left on me. I will miss you but your philosophy will ever live in my heart.

My deepest sympathies. Bill was a caring educator, a great smile...as well, Bill was an awesome and dedicated husband, father and friend. Billy, I´m so very sorry. Sincerely. Maria Perez

I only learned of Bill's passing today when I saw a photo of him in the Sussex Y expressing condolences on his passing. I met Bill several years ago at the Y. He was one of those rare people who you felt you knew him forever when you first met him! Being of shared Italian vintage, we would swap stories, especially about the fantastic Italian dishes we loved! My condolences to Bill's family. He was a good man who spoke glowingly of his family, his teaching experiences and just life in...

I met Bill at the Y back in 2009 and ar the time he was the leader of a small posse called Brrr (Bill, Ron, Rich & Randy) that would liven up the locker room. As time evolved I was to engage with him in a memorable poker game at his Vernon home and the infamous Saratoga trip. His smile, humor and wit will be sorely missed at the Y. Prayers daily for Bill ....rest in peace. David

Condolences to the entire Shapiro Family and close friends. Mr.Shapiro was my photography teacher at Union Hill H.S. He was one of the only ones who truly believed in me. You never talked down to any of your students and you truly believed in us. I still have the Ansel Adam's book you gave me and it's been over 30yrs. Rest in Peace my friend.

Condolences to the family and may Mr. Shap. rest in peace. Thank you for all you did for me.

My condolences to the Shapiro family. I officiated many volleyball matches with Bill. He was easy to work with, very personable and a gentleman. May he rest in peace.
