Not sure what to say?

Dear Patti, I think of you so often. As I re-read Bill’s obituary, I grieved again for your loss. Bill was truly a great young man, and he left us too soon. I send my love to you. I shall never forget how you so efficiently organized the Fine Arts Camp in our yard in 1976. I had NEVER had the opportunity to attend a kid’s camp. You did a remarkable job to make that a great camp! I think you may know that Dick Passed away suddenly just a year ago from a massive...

I just now discovered this sad news. I had lost track of Bill since I was tranferred away from Fairbanks in 1991. We worked together in the Boy Scouts, particularly with the Order of the Arrow from 1987-91. I also fondly recall helping Bill prepare a group of Scouts prepare for Philmont in 1990 by making a shakedown trip to the Granite Tors. Good times and pleasant memories from an outstanding Scouter and Arrowman.

Bill was such a vital part of the Fairbanks community for such a long time.....so involved in its many aspects....and he will truely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Patti, and with your family.

Dear Shechter family, Bill was such a cheerful, kind and helpful person to individuals and to groups of people. He had a life well-lived and he will be dearly missed. It was a pleasure knowing him. PS I will add to my GREAT grandparent list of to-dos: "with grandchildren, have ice cream for breakfast". ;-) ... a life well-lived!

So sorry for your loss- I knew Bill through volunteering at the Food Bank. After years of stumbling over the pronunciation of my name, he recently got it. We laughed over it as I congratulated him. His friendly helpful manner will be missed.

Patti,

Our condolences to and the kids. His smiling face at FMH will be greatly missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time of sorrorw.

Love,

Linda Dickerson & Russell Burris

What a great loss for your family and the entire Fairbanks community. Many a smokey summer day, I'd stop him on the street (or at Wal Mart) to hear how the forest fires were doing, as he always had the latest - and most accurate - information. You both have been a blessing to this community in so many ways. Know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Patti, this is Connie (McKee)Schreiber my daughter Jennier Jennings just told me about Bill. I'm at a loss for words. I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of your loss. Bill was such an amazing father, firefighter and was an asset to Bunnell House when I was there. I come to Fairbanks each summer to see my kids and grandkids. I was excited to learn about your kids and where they are, what they do and know they are married. Jenny lives about 6 hrs. from Stillwater, OK.
Bill played a hugh...

I was sorry to hear of this sudden loss. As another UAFD alum, Chief Shechter's influence led many of us to go after our pursuits. Thank you Shechter family for sharing him with us. God Bless.
