Not sure what to say?

I was looking for information about Mennonite Village for a family member who may need to move there. I was saddened to come across Bill Shumway's name and obit from last year. I'm so sorry. We have many of Bill's paintings in our home. We passed one of them on to his daughter Paige some years ago as we were moving in with our kids. Bill, thank you for all the good things, all the ways you connected with people, and how you expressed it in your extraordinary artwork with beauty, skill,...

You were one of the most inspiring role models for me. I have never met a man so caring and thoughtful as you. Thank you Bill, love, Eric West

Remember his stories about his dad's small grocery store, told while Bill cut and fitted frames.

I am so sorry to read this news. Something prompted me to search his name tonight, as I often think of Bill when I do my own picture framing in my garage. I worked at Pegasus Frame Studio for three years in the mid 1980´s. I learned from Bill, the most invaluable framing techniques, concepts, and innovations that go way beyond the average. He was and is a valued mentor to me in far more than just picture framing. His wisdom, artistry, and humor still inspire me to this day. Such a relative...

I knew Bill for many many years. My sister Doris Frischknecht-Opager was an artist and she and Bill were also very good friends. She had many shows locally and Bill has always there to help her. She survived Leukemia but passed at age 38. Bill posted a color photograph of her in Pegasus Window telling of her talent and of her passing so young. He was a very great and generous friend. I was away when he passed and I am so sorry to have missed any gathering in his honor. Rest in Peace,...

Single Memorial Tree

I´m sorry Bill is gone. I knew him in Amherst in the early 70s, when he owned a framery and painted, and, of course, told stories. He was, indeed, a warm and amazing person. I´m glad to see he had a happy life in Corvalis, as well as raising 5 children, who, I´m sure, were the warm heart of his life, along with his art.

Bill and Sue were both larger than life and such a welcome addition to Mennonite Village. I knew of them when my husband and I lived in Corvallis, since they owned the art shop in town and were well-known locally. I got to know them personally and found out what wonderful, friendly, enjoyable people they were after we all moved to Mennonite Village. I shared a common friend with Bill, former OSU president John Byrne. Bill always reminded me of John both in looks and personality. Bill said...
