I have watched him interview patients in the presence of residents and medical students as a teaching exercise and his manner, methods, and results were true remarkable. William Sledge was as humane as he was smart. I enjoyed so much talking with him about all sorts of things, including the possibility of a psychoanalytic studies program at Yale. I will miss him sorely

To Betsy and William's family William was an exceptional psychiatrist, advocate, and friend to many of us in the mental health community. He supported Fellowship Place as the agency grew and adapted to the changing needs of the individuals we serve. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Dear Friends and Family of William Sledge, I am sorry to learn about William's death. When I was a young nurse at Yale Psychiatric Institute in the 1970's he helped me learn about the serious illness that young adolescents and adults endured.
