Not sure what to say?

Dear Doris, I was so sad to hear of Bill's death. As you know, we first met as client/ lawyer (I didn't even represent him the first time) but we quickly became friends. I will always remember sitting at my desk and seeing him come down the walk - always with the N.Y. Times under his arm. I knew we would have a stimulating conversation about books, politics, art, history, etc.,etc. He was truly a remarkable man. Tom Brokaw called his generation "the greatest generation" and Bill certainly fit...

Doris, I am so sorry about your loss, and sorrier still I have been so long in getting to this site.
I havent seen you in many many years, but still remember the time I spent with you and Bill in my childhood very fondly.

You took me to many neat places that focused my energy through curiosity. You were both so patient and calm with me, and some of my earliest memories are of your beach house with the many stairs down to the water.

Most specifically I...

We have many treasured memories of Bill. He was a friend to us and an adventurous uncle to our children.

In particular, I remember one day when he led our family in search of mussels. We worked hard to pry them off the rocks and scrub them clean. It was only then (after cooking them in Bill's special wine broth) did we have a new appreciation for the delicate taste of really fresh mussels. - Thank you Bill!

We will miss Bill and extend our deepest sympathy to all...

I will always have very fond memories of Uncle Bill, especially the time I spent visiting during the summers of my youth.

He helped me learn the value of hard work, and how rewarding it can be. However, he also taught me that it is OK to take a break from work - especially when the fish are biting or when it is simply time for an ice cream break.

He introduced me to light tackle fishing, Time Cat, Joseph Campbell, and potato leak and french onion soup.

Our family extends our deepest sympathy and heartfelt sorrow to Doris, Judy, Randy, Kathy, Tom and Kaitlin for your loss.

Bill was a great family man and a friend to many. He left his mark by guiding his family and friends through hardships, disappointments and happy times. Let us not forget his honorable and heroic service to our country during World War II. Bill will not be forgotten.

Until we meet again, may you rest in peace and God Bless you, my special...
