Bill was born in West Branch, Michigan on February 26, 1944 the son of the late Joseph and Alfreda Steelman. In April, 1968 he was joined in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Susan Crecine. Bill was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country with honor and bravery. Upon returning home, he embarked on a successful career at GM, where he excelled as a skilled tradesman before retiring. Outside of his professional life, Bill was involved in various community organizations. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners, where he served as a past clown, bringing joy and laughter to countless children. He was a member of the Swartz Creek Sportsman's Club, Safari Club International, and served as the Past Commander of the Linden VFW. An avid outdoorsman, Bill found solace and joy in nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his family hunting property up north. His love for the outdoors was surpassed only by his love for his family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Bill was known for his kind and generous spirit, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued, and he never knew a stranger. His warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his devoted wife of 55 years, Susan, his children Scott Steelman (Amy), Michelle Steelman, and his grandchildren Kaitlyn Blair (Cameron), and Nathan Steelman; sisters Gloria (John) Eldred and Kay Wheeler; many nieces and nephews; and furry friends Gus and Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alfreda Steelman; mother and father-in-law, Fritz and Clara Crecine; sister-in-law, Karen Reed and niece, Carrie LaLonde Johnson.

He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives he touched in profound ways.

Though Bill may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire generations to come.
