I was fortunate to be inspired and mentored by Bill at Duke from 1972 until his retirement in 1998 and beyond. He chose to honor me with his presence at my retirement reception in January 2013.
My wife, Janice, and I attended the memorial service today. I was comforted by Kelly and Dick's confirmations that their dad was there for them, come what may, just as I felt he was for me. May he Rest In Peace.

I worked with Bill in early 70's when he was at Duke Power and I was working for him as an Arthur Andersen consultant. I was always impressed with his technical, business and interpersonal skills and I really cherished my friendship with him. I viewed Bill as a mentor to me as a young person starting his professional career. You are fortunate to have him as part of your family for all these years and I know he will be missed.
