Not sure what to say?

I just heard, in March 2019 that he passed away. Bill was a good friend of my fathers' and my family. When he appeared at the service in the Stanhope Cemetery, when my Dad passed away, He had some nice stories to tell about his growing up with my Dad. His art work will live on forever with his great spirit.

We'll miss you Bill

Bill & I taught together at Dover HS. Our family owns several of his paintings - Flanders Valley Golf Course, Halloween Night in Hacketstown & Bertram Island Amusement Park. He was a very talented artist & teacher. We now live in Charleston SC, but return to Vernon NJ in August to visit our children. I was so happy to attend St Francis de Sales Church in Vernon on August 19, 2018 & hear Bill's name mentioned in the mass intentions. Thank you to Joanne LoPiccolo.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a genuine and lovely man, and talented artist. A long-time customer of my Aunt and Uncle, I met him when I took over the art supply business. Always upbeat, engaged and in-the-moment, I enjoyed his visits for brushes, where I heard about his adored wife, Kitty, and his family he was so proud of. I was impressed by how giving he was of his time. I will miss him and my dog Apple (who he lavished with treats and attention) will miss him too. May...

As a short term neighbor I only knew Bill for a couple of years. He was impressive with his love of birds, painting, gardening and friendliness. His passing caught me by surprise. I can see he was even more accomplished than I realized. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

We are lucky to have had known Bill, and to have him paint for us was a bonus. Loved his enthusiasm, his stories, and the twinkle in his eye. Our condolences to Kitty and the family. God must've needed someone to paint Heaven.

Al/Bonnie and family:

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

When my dad retired as Denville School Superintendent in 1986, the Board of Education hired Mr.Sturm to paint his portrait.Mom and I traveled with Dad to a quaint studio in Budd Lake more than once. Mr.Sturm and his wife were always gracious to us and made Dad feel comfortable. The portrait was a masterpiece , showcasing Mr. Sturm's talent. Today it still hangs in Valleyview Middle School's media center in Denville as an eternal memory of my dad, thanks to Mr.Sturm.

I feel I know him more from his art work hanging on the walls of the pro-shop at Fairway Valley. The more I look at his work, the more I am impressed with what I see. The few times we spoke at the golf course were few. Yet each time I walked away feeling I had just talked with a very kind, considerate person. My sympathies are with his loved one now.
