WILLIAM VANCE "BILL" SWEET

Jane,
The years have passed and I just discovered Bill's passing. Of everyone in my long life, he is one of the most sterling of men. He was remarkable: incredibly intelligent, kind, foresighted, honorable. I always loved his shy smile and his great laugh. I heard he had still embraced politics with his beliefs still strong for America.

May you and your children remember all the good things and not the terror of Parkinson's. I hope you are well and still feisty.

My fondest...

Bill was a great gentleman and having not seen him in recent time, I have thought of him often. Very dry humor, but funnnnnny! We did some politicking together and his instincts for the game were also excellent.

Bill understood what Jesus meant when he asked us to, "Love thy neighbor." Bill was a very "fatherly" friend to me when we were neighbors in Berea; always willing to share his advice, his time, perhaps a tool and certainly his friendship in my early years as a husband and father. I will never be able to thank Bill enough for believing in me and mentoring me in an entrepreneurial endeavor in which I learned a great deal about small business and the law.
