Not sure what to say?

I had the pleasure of working for Bill Swindells, Jr. as his administrative assistant at the Albany office nearly 40 years ago. He was a generous, wonderful man to work for and I will always cherish the years I spent at Willamette. Thanks to Bill, Jr., I had two thrilling jet helicopter rides over the Willamette National Forest. Good memories of a special man.

About 50 years ago I met Bill and was impressed by his no-nonsense straight-shot approach to matters in a quiet, calm way. I always appreciated interacting with him in our occasional encounters over the years. I will remember him fondly. Roland Haertl

Bill and Ann were the nicest people I have ever met. They raised their children to be down to earth and kind. I worked with the family for so many years in accounting. I feel so proud to have spent such great time with them. I will never forget the speech he gave at the stockholder meeting and what a job he did. What a class act. Bill, Leslie, Charlie and your families I am so sorry for your loss.

Bit by bit, vestiges of Willamette Industries are gently subsumed in Oregon history. Bill was a major player in the company's history and I am sorry to hear of his passing. I was proud of my association with Willamette, but never more so than when Bill stood up at our last annual meeting and incisively (and uncharacteristically) rebuked the larger company that destroyed ours in words both heated and eloquent. Sentiments shared by employees and shareholders alike. And I was proud too of my...

It was my privilege to work with Bill Swindells Jr. and Duane McDougall as the final chapter was written for Willamette Industries. Those were the days when the Willamette executive and lean corporate teams officed at the Wells Fargo Tower. That's where Cathy Baldwin Dunn, Greg Hayley, Mick Onustock, Bill Kinnune, Chuck Carlson, John LeFors, Dave Morthland, Eddie McMillan, Don McNeil and so many other smart and earnest leaders charted the course for the then-fastest growing and most...

Bill, Leslie and Charlie--We are so sorry on the passing of your father. Bill, along with your mom and grandparents were such a wonderful part of our lives growing up. Every trip to Dallas, to visit our grandparents, came with the hope of spending time with your happy family.

When you all moved to Portland we were thrilled! We've all shared many happy times together---memories of which I cherish! I was always amazed when I stopped by the Portland house that your dad always had a tool...

To the Swindellsl Family from the McCracken Family; so sorry for your loss. Bill (and George) were long time friends and business associates of my parents Paul and Sally. They played together and served on boards together. I have so many fond memories of get togethers with both of your families and especially Bill's support for my family when my parents passed. We wish you all well. kind regards, John and Susan McCracken

Our condolences for the loss of your loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Bill was a good friend and a great man!
