Guest Book

Not sure what to say?

I've just had the opportunity to read the entries in this guest book for the first time. I was a member of his duPont High School Band. Every sentiment expressed by every person is one that I feel also. Mr. Swor was the single most important person to influence my life. Not only did he influence mine, but my parenting skills were based on all I learned from Mr. Swor--as my son will absolutely attest!! So, I'm convinced that Mr. Swor not only was a huge influence on our generation, but also...

I don't think that there is any possible way to express all of the profound positive effects that Mr. William F. Swor had on my life during my years in the duPont band, and that he had on all the other band members. Words just couldn't do it justice, or begin to convey the love and respect we had for him. My sympathies to his family. He will be missed by us all.

I only just learned today of his passing. Mr Swor certainly was a positive influence in my life, even though he left duPont for LSU after my sophomore year. Since I started taking lessons from him in 6th grade, I knew him for 4.5 yrs. I didn't appreciate until much later, the magnitude of his influence on me as a teacher and leader. I knew him as a band director, and - until we both realized that I can't carry a tune in a bucket - as a member of the youth choir at Lakewood. I guess that's why...

I will forever be appreciative of the great gift WFS gave to me, the gift of music. Today, 40 years later, I am playing french horn in the St Augustine Community Orchestra. I think of him fondly while I am in a rehearsal, and remember how much we all enjoyed being in the DuPont High School Band. What an honor!!! He will always be thought of with great respect and admiration by those of us fortunate enough to be taught by him. Rest in peace, WFS, we will always miss you and be grateful for our...

God Bless you Mr. Swor. You are the one most valuable positive influence, on earth, my life has ever had. I just learned of your passing today, March, 24, 2005, but heaven is greatly enriched by your entrance. Only God knows how wonderful and meaningful my days in the duPont Band were. You will always be remembered and greatly loved.

I was very sad to hear about the passing of Mr.Swor. He was my choir director at Lakewood Presbyterian Church in Jax., Florida many years ago. It was so wonderful reading all the entries in the guest book, what a great testimony to how he lead his life. My prayers are with his family.

I will feel that Mr. Swor is a presence that will live in the hearts of who all he touched through his great values and talent.
There isn't a day that goes by that his teachings don't touch my life. I know I am a much better person for having had Mr. Swor mentor me while I was a fledgling band member at DuPont in 1958.
He taught me that hard work and a belief in God would always spell sucess. I have used that formula.
I am also never on time, I am always early.
God...

Just hearing of Mr. Swor's death has saddened me greatly. My condolences to his family. I agree, as with all of the other DuPont Band members, he had a great impact on all of lives. Hard work, determination along with his gift to make everyone feel important gave all of us the confidence to strive. May God Bless him and his family.

Having only just learned of his death, I would like to wish my deepest condolences and sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. Swor.
I had the honor of being a member of the LSU Tiger Marching Band from 1971 - 1975 and during that tenure, learned the true meanings of pride, honor, respect and loyalty.
He was, as I see someone else has already stated, truly larger than life and; although an uncompromising task master, he never expected any more from his students...
