WILLIAM R. TOKASH HOBART, IN William R. Tokash, age 77, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010 peacefully at home. William was a lifelong area resident who grew up in the Tolleston area of Gary and was a Hobart resident for over 50 years. He was retired from U.S. Steel and Takata Gateway Manufacturing in Michigan City, and served in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He was a simple man who loved his grandchildren, liked to watch TV and go to the Boats. He was an avid lifelong Hobart Brickie and Notre Dame football fan. William is survived by his three sons: William (Tricia) Tokash of Downers Grove, IL, Thomas (Amy) Tokash of Indianapolis, and Robert (Cyndee) Tokash of Portage; six grandchildren: Katherine and Anna; Andrew and Jenna; and Clarissa and Anabelle; brother-in-law, James T. Henry of Portage; and other loving family and friends. He will also be missed by his many longtime friends including Jim and Connie Lough. William was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents: Andrew and Kathryn; his brother, Robert; and his granddaughter, Mary Frances. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2010 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. and just prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart, (219) 942-2109 or online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.

Our prayers go out to Bill's family. It has been probably over 55 years since we were neighbors on 9th Ave. We lose track of friends as we get older and move. It gets the mind to go back in time for the memories though.
