Not sure what to say?

Reading this morning in Exodus and remembering God's call on my life into pastoral ministry. That call was confirmed in 1979 at San Jacinto Baptist Church, Amarillo, under the preaching ministry of Dr. Tolar.
He graciously sat in my home, with my wife and me, and encouraged and simply, profoundly loved us as we transitioned our lives.
Blessings to you, his family, in the hope and peace of Christ.

My wife Jan and I were privileged to be on two or three Holy Land trips on which Dr. Tolar served as lecturer. His Biblical background insights on the places that we visited greatly enhanced our appreciation for those sites. In addition to his lectures, we got to know him personally, and found him to be a gracious, kind, and thoroughly delightful person. Our lives were enriched just by knowing him. I offer sincere condolences to the family, but rejoice with them that "we sorrow not as those...

Brenda and I were deeply saddened to learn of the death of our wonderful friend, Dr. Bill Tolar. We were out of state at the time, and thus unable to be present for his memorial service. A Christian giant, he was a friend to all. No campus revival preacher ever made a greater impact during our presidential years at Howard Payne University, and no recipient of HPU's honorary doctoral degree was more worthy. More recently, it is noted that he continued to serve our Lord in pulpits and Bible...

Dr. Tolar was a God-given mentor, teacher and friend to many; and greatly to Kristin and I. His life, ministry and friendship are a challenge to us all in reflection of Hebrews 13:7, "Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith." His classroom lessons and preaching matched the life he lived out in faith and love.

Our hearts and prayers are with Mrs. Tolar and the entire family during this time....

Uncle Bill was always such a bright shining example of gentleness, kindness and generosity to our family over so many years and his friendship with Dad was such a treasure for all of us. See you in the near coming days, Bill

Dr. Tolar will always be a treasure in our hearts. I was blessed to have him as one of my seminary professors and we were blessed having him in our home as he came to teach Winter Bible Study for many years in Orange, Texas. Often Mrs. Tolar would accompany him and she is likewise a treasure. Please be assured of our prayers for Mrs. Tolar and the family. In the name and love of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Dr. Tolar was one of my favorite teachers at SWBTS. After 34 years, I still have notes of his lectures from a hermeneutics class. He made a significant impact on my life and ministry. God's peace and comfort to his family.

I will never forget the wonderful Bible studies this precious man led here in Orange, TX for many years. I learned so much from him, as did our son, Jimmy, whom he taught at Southwestern Seminary.
He was truly a man of God, whom I will never forget❣ Rest high upon that mountain, sweet man. I am praying for his little wife & family. Beth & Al Baas
